We are wasting money in building surveys, but why?
We can’t afford to build them anymore because of our economic woes, says Jharkhand’s Jhana Krishnan.
He is the state surveyor and chairman of the Construction Survey Society.
“The first time we built a building surveyor in the state, we spent Rs.100 crore.
But now, the costs of the survey are over Rs.20 lakh.
Even the surveyors who were paid Rs.10,000 per day for the first five years of their careers are getting Rs.40,000 a month.”
He says the surveyor’s salary has risen by 40% in the last three years.
The surveyor says the government should create a new class of surveyors to take charge of the new buildings.
“We don’t need any surveyors from the government.
The new class should be those who are experts.
These surveyors will be paid from their own pockets.
It will be better for the government,” he says.
